Cannot connect to Internet over HughesNet

My Ipad has connected to several Wi-Fi networks - both secure and unsecure; however, in my current configuration, I cannot connect to the Internet. My setup is a 2.4 Ghz Linksys Wireless-G router connected to a HughesNet Satellite modem. The router is setup with a local area workgroup called CabinNet. The router setup is as an unsecured wireless network. This WiFi network works with several laptop computers. When the Ipad is turned on, the wireless symbol appears in the top left corner and Settings/General shows Wi-Fi connected to CabinNet. The router is about 5 feet from the Ipad and the signal strength is excellent. The satellite modem is showing an online status with all lights showing no problems. None-the-less, the Ipad will not connect to the Internet.

I have tried resetting the network setup with no resolution to the problem. Turning Wi-Fi off and back on does not help.

Any help would be appreciated.

The IP Address is 192.168.1.151. The Lynksys Router model is WRK54G. It is a 802.11g router. This configuration works with multiple laptop computers. I realize that you are all trying to find something in the wifi configuration to blame this problem on, but the evidence seems to point to a deficiency in the the Ipad software. I suspect that the satellite Internet connection produces a latency on the signals that prevents the Ipad from connecting. Any thoughts?
