Hi

I seem to be having problems burning cds. When I try, it takes me through the process but then after a few minutes it looks like the burn has frozen and then I get the following error message - The attempt to burn disc failed. An unknown error occured (4000). I've attempted changing the speed as some recommended but this made no difference and didn't want to waste anymore discs trying.

I have posted the diagnostics below:

I have been there done that and I am getting NO WHERE?  I can not burn my music still I have been through several disks, and have tried all trouble shooting suggested by iTunes.  I have had my Dell Support tech team run all dianostics , update all my drivers, ect...  My other media software burns just fine.

This all started about 1 month ago while I was in the itunes store and received a prompt to upgrade my itunes, I did the upgrade and have not been able to burn "My Music" I bought from itunes.  This is a shame that the itune support team can not find a fix to their customers needs!  I have spent hours on this problem!!

Does anyone out there know of another Music site that I can join?  Make sure to send a support email to the itunes support team...  I am going to ask for my money back for my music and move on from this whole apple/itunes BS real soon!  There Customer Support  is good for nothing and does not seem to care,,,isn't it strange how apple phone support does not support itunes!  They are going to lose a lot of customers and money...I don't get it??

    Does anyone get it??

I think we'd better check on firmware and drivers and so forth first, because you look to be a little behind. (I think Samsung is up to Rev SB06 with the firmware for that drive now, for instance.) I'm assuming this is a home/custom-built system based on an Asus P7H55-M SI motherboard. If so, we need to go to the manufacturers of the components for drivers and firmware and so forth.

So, head to Asustek to check for BIOS and chipset driver updates for your P7H55-M SI:

    http://support.asus.com/download/Options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1

Head to Samsung support for your country and check for the newer firmware for the SH-S223C.

Head to AMD support for your country to check for any video driver updates for your ATI Radeon HD 4350.

Writing CD text is turned on in the preferences. If you’re having problems burning CDs, try turning this preference off.

Let's also switch off that preference, just in case.

After update and adjusting preferences, are you able to burn without the 4000?
