when I delete an email on my iPhone for my exchange email the following message pops up "Unable to move message. The message could not be moved to the mailbox trash." how do I fix this?

What worked for me was to tap on the message (on my phone) that I could not delete and mark it as unread. Then it would disappear.
In my case the offending emails had been deleted off of the server weeks prior but were caught in some sort of cyber-limbo on my iPhone.
