Sorry. I didn't realize because you did not specifically say it came that way. In your case, if it bothers you, return it for a "pristine" model. You also have up to 14 days to get a refund from Apple if you decide to not keep it.

I'd take it back to the Apple store if it's convenient and get another one.

Be more careful in the future. Not much you can do. If you don't already have one, get a case for it. However, I did the same thing - got a tiny nick in the aluminum by the side switch and I even use a case but still managed to nick it.

It drove me nuts for a couple of days so I got a silver Sharpie marker and carefully dabbed it onto the chip and now it is barely noticable at all. Actually, it affects nothing, so I don't even think about it any more.

Pristine means perfect condition, unspoiled. I have read some stories on this discussion site where users returned their iPads three times, but it's up to the Store at this point if you've already returned two of them. It will still be covered under the one year warranty for manufacturer defects, but I suppose you would have to convince that it came with the chip right out of the box for a return due to cosmetic reasons.

I guess it can't hurt to try - if the chip is that big and it bothers you - give it a shot.

Trust me I do know how you feel. I was sick when I first chipped the edge of my iPad as I try to be meticulous with my electronic devices as well. But I am at an age and point in life now where these types of things don't eat at me like they used to when I was younger. Most days anymore, I am thrilled just to wake up and get out of bed!

Good luck. I hope it works out well for you.
