Unable to see/connect to WiFi networks on TiBook G4 667mhz...Airport card dead?

So, I've pulled my trusty TiBook out of storage to act as my trusty e-mail/web sidecar at work, only to find that it can't seem to detect/access WiFi networks. Running 10.4.11, reset PRAM, repaired permissions, turned off the card and back on multiple times (checked the Airport Card info under Sys Profiler--sees it, says it's firmware 9.52, btw)...made sure the WiFi router is on mixed, and even turned off security, still not able to even manually complete a log-in (seems like it tries, even though no bars ever appear in the Airport sig strength icon on the task bar). Spinning, then error, repeatedly. And no network is ever shown in the list after successive rescans.

I thought I'd trashed the appropriate preference files for my network/airport, in case it needed that 'fresh start', but maybe I missed something. And if the card hardware is malfunctioning, how would I know/check?

Help is greatly appreciated--other than this WiFi issue, my lovely old Mac laptop is good as can be, 10+ yrs later. Love the Apple gear that way...my high end/expensive Toshiba laptop barely made it to 4-1/2 yrs without first two batteries, then the power adapter, then the video card, and finally the power supply dying and taking the whole system down with it.

Yeah, I think you may be right. I remembered last night that I'd purchased a Sonnet Aria Extreme 8011g cardbus WiFi adapter years back. Plugged that in and voila! Everything works perfectly now.

So, short answer, I do think its a hardware issue w/ the internal Airport card. Question now is, what's the easiest way to get in there and see if the antenna/card connection is firmly seated...I've cracked this TiBook open in the past (did memory, hard drive and optical drive upgrades some years back), and know its not nearly as user-friendly as the newer MacBooks.

Yeah, it's pretty simple once you get the case open--I'd only meant I'd had my fill of opening the case as I'd ended up having issues w/ the slot-load alignment in the way back after all my initial digging in/upgrading and vowed to never open it up again. Sonnet card is functioning great (and at 'g' speeds), but I'll check out the bult-in just to have it all working if possible.

Here's the link I think you meant to post--shows how simple the Airport card install is: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-PowerBook-G4-Titanium-DVI-Airport- Card/88/1
