Don't switch it on again, put it into a bag of rice for a couple of days and hope that the moisture will be taken out by that, but since there's also sugar included, this might not bring your ipod back to life, and you'll have to get it serviced.
If it was immersed I doubt that it will recover, you should take it to an Apple Store and find out what your options are, it will not be free so if you have homeowners insurance check whether this event is covered.
Don't drink the coke.
Your iPod is toast. No amount of dry rice is gonna help.
"Coke" and other carbonated drinks are acidic (carbonic acid), not to mention loaded with sugars and other nastiness.
The acid will "eat" metals, like the lead and tin in solder, most liquids will wreak havoc with the LCD display, and since "Coke" and its cousins are acidic, they are also good electrolytes and will conduct electricity.
You can try filing a claim against your home owner's insurace, but barring that, you're out of luck.
Hello, I also scuba dived my ipod touch yesterday in a big glass of Coke. It wasn't even light or zero 🙂 I read here, immediately switch it off and keep it for 24h in a bag of rice. Now I opened it, seems like it's working, I am doing some backup to be sure I don't lose my data, but please advice me: should I still take it to some unauthorized service to try an internal clean or whatever? Where I'm living I don't have Apple store or service, so not sure what I'm supposed to do. Thanks!
Get ready to buy a new iPod. Backing it up is a very good idea.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. Make sure y select your country. You may have to contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
