I have an old iMac G5 and I can't remember the password and I don't have the start up disc. What do I do to reset the password?

If you only have 1 admin account the only way you can do it is to reboot into the cd and change it.

You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.

TIP: Start using passwords that would be impossible for you to forget, write them down & hide them in a safe place.

Try booting into single user mode.
