This seems to have resolved my problem printing to a Xerox WorkCentre. Many thanks to the kind soul who posted http://www.geocities.jp/horiemonmail/Repair10.6.8.dmg.

ok, then follow the instructions some pages before ..

take your mouse (curser) from FINDER -> go to -> folder ... or just click on shift  and apple-cmd and G .. so will open a window .. there you copy       /usr/libexec/cups/backend

then select the corrupted file .. or files like

    lpd

    ipp

    dnssd

mark them using apple cmd and mouseclic .. now open TIME MACHINE .. go back before your update and replace this files by the older ones ..

Thats all .. just go back working and printing ..

Ditto... this is for an Epson Artisan 700. The printer dialog is stuck "Sending print data..." after 10.6.8 update.

I had same issues with copier products. disabled snmp on printer. prints started coming out fine.

i had 2 macbooks that couldn't print to a Fuji Xerox Docucentre printer when they had been fine for months. I had a Fuji Tech try to sort it online with no luck at first.

This how we resolved it as a workaround:

Open a web browser and log in to the printer ip address...http://<printer ip>

Navigate to "Port Status" and disable (untick) the SNMP Port and submit.

    After this the printer worked.

The negative with this is that PC's might have problems printing now to this printer,

However, instead of the above, you can rather modify the printer driver script on the actual Macbook by editing and adding the following line in the driver file:

    *cupsSNMPSupplies: False

This worked for me until there is an official update from Apple or printer manufacturers.

We have a Konica Minolta BizHub C452 that was also experiencing the paused printing issue when sending print jobs. I tried disabling the SNMP like another poster suggested and that fixed our issue. While others have fixed the issue by replacing the cups back-end it makes me a bit nervous to tinker with the Unix underpinnings. Especially if you have to do it on lots of computers as I would. I had also read somewhere about someone simply changing lowercase public and private to Public and Private (uppercase P) and leaving SNMP on and having printing return. That worked for me as well.

So to recap, at least with our Konica Minolta BizHub C452, I was able to change the SNMP settings from public and private to Public and Private and restore my printing. On a side note, I did find this thread over at cups.org that acknowledges the bug being in the 1.4 branch but having been fixed in the 1.5 branch. When you look at the supplied patch file it talks about SNMP supplies so I guess it makes sense that turning off SNMP would fix the problem. I am not sure why simply changing to uppercase P's for public and private fixes the problem while leaving SNMP on. But why look a gift horse in the mouth.

Thanks. where exactly did you change the Public and Private capitalization please?

Log into the copiers web administration module as Administrator. Then click on the orange Network icon. Then click on SNMP over on the left hand side then change the lowercase p's to upper case P's and click the Ok button at the bottom of the page. Then you can log out and you should be good. I think you can also do it from the copier directly but our device is new and the interface on the copier is less familiar to me than using the web interface. I've included a picture of what you should see to help you. Screen shot 2011-07-01 at 9.09.20 AM.png

I can also confirm that disabling the SNMP fixed the issue for us, with our Fiery and Xerox Docucolor 252. While I had fixed several machines via rolling back the various CUPS executibles to 10.6.7, we still had machines that had updated to 10.6.8 that didn't need the fix in a hurry. I was able to test it (failed), disable the SNMP and reboot the Fiery, then test it again (worked).

Excellent fix for those that don't require SNMP for monitoring the printer for now. Very intersting.

I have 2 Bonjour printers that work just fine --

a CF3102_31C which I have running via a print server on a os x server machine (the server is 10.4.11)

    an HP LaserJet 9050

The printer that goes into "pause" instantly as soon as stuff appears in the queue is a Minolta BizHub 920.  Here are my console.log messages:

Have you tried turning off SNMP on the device from the web administration? Give that a shot maybe it will help with that model as well.
