How many home screens have you got on the iPad ? There is, or used to be, a limit (11 or 12 I think), after which which apps were only accessible via the spotlight search screen.

If you don't have many home screens have you tried a soft-reset/reboot of the iPad to see if it shows after the iPad has restarted ?

If you have and still can't find it you could try connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes and on its Apps tab in your computer's iTunes find the Facebook in the listbox of apps (assuming that you have it downloaded on the computer) and double-click on it, that will hopefully highlight which homescreen that it's on via the screen mockups on the right-hand side of that Apps tab

Assuming that you've checked all your homescreens, then if you synced it from your computer check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps is 'on'. Otherwise have you tried a reset to see if it appears after you've restarted the iPad ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
