Iphoto iPad synch
I have recently upgraded to iphoto 11 and just loaded a series of photos which I have edited. When I sync my iPad it copies the photos but not the edits? How do I fix this. Previous albums and events synch the edited versions...

Greetings,
Remove the iPod Photo Cache and try again: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
Hope that helps.
This sounds good to me but how do I locate and delete the iphoto ipod cache folder?
Thanks Chris
Follow the link I provided above.
Thanks I did that. I selected no photos and deleted all photos from my ipad. I then selected just the album in question and it loaded the photos without edits again! Interestingly my iphone has them correctly showing the edits!
If the iPhone shows the edits when the same Album is selected and the iPad does not, that suggests an issue with the iPad. You may need to restore it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Before doing that try removing the following to the trash and restarting the computer:
Your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iphoto (there may be more than 1, remove them all)
Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
If after you restart and sync, the iPhone still receives the edited images from iPhoto but iPad does not, its time to restore the iPad (assuming you've already updated the software on it).
Cheers.
Madison,
Thanks for the response. I have followed your advice and removed all photos from my ipad and then reloaded having deleted the files above. My ipad still has the unedited photos. Also note this is not just one ipad but both and both my iphones have the correct photos! This doesn't feel like a device issue rather than an ipad sync issue.
Can you advise what to do next?
Thanks Chris
iPhones and iPads use the same technology to sync data. If one device (or two) syncs but others do not then the issue usually lies with those devices.
That said if you tried the afore mentioned article and removed the iPod Photo Cache and the issue persists try the following:
1.) Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer:
Your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (there may be more than one, remove them all)
Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.iPhoto
2.) Remove the iPod Photo Cache again: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
3.) Launch iPhoto and then make a new Album and put some edited images into it
4.) Sync your iPad with the newly created album and check carefully to see if the edited versions show up
If the issue persists backup your data and then rebuild your iPhoto Library.
-- First rebuild using the "permissions" option.
-- Once complete go back and do the "rebuild iphoto library database from automatic backup" option
-- If this does not resolve the issue go back again and do the "repair the iphoto library database" option
Cheers.
I am sorry to say none of the above helped. In the end I exported the event in question out of iphoto and then re-imported it and now the pictures are as they should be except I will not be able to revert to the originals. Disappointing but not crucial. It will be interesting to see if this bug re-appears when I import the next set of photos to iphoto, edit and then sync them. Please let me know if you find others with the same problem or you find a fix to this error.
Thanks Chris
Hey Chris,
By re-importing the images into iPhoto you've made them "originals" so they are no longer "edited" versions as far as iPhoto is concerned.
As a test, import a brand new image and then apply an obvious edit (like a big crop) to it and see if it syncs to your iOS device.
Hi there,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I have now taken more photos and edited some of them. Having synched both iPhone and iPad I fin that the edits in iPhoto do not show on either iPad or iPhone! This is very frustrating. Previously I have not had this issue. I think it is only since upgrading to iPhoto 2011.
Please can you help?
Thanks Chris
Before spending any more time on this, lets issolate the issue.
Note: You can switch back to your normal library using the Option key following steps 1 and 2.
Installing LION seems to have removed the problem so I have not needed to run through this set of actions.
Many thanks for your support.
Cheers Chris
