Help with iphone on Tigo Colombia. Iphone 4 factory unlocked

Hi, additional to this, I also downloaded the iphone configuration tool from apple, and set up the APN as the service provider told me, the thing is that in Tigo Colombia they have make clear that support can't be given for Iphone, that it should be handled by apple, and I actually paid a lot, over 600USD at mac center in florida to get it factory unlocked.

I need help to see if the issue is because I have the OS version 4.3.3 (8J2), Tigo said that they have no experience with this OS version, as in previous versions the APN was setup within the iphone, and not using the iphone configuration tool.

Regards,

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2, Tigo Colombia

OK, thanks, I wanted to confirm that you didn't get the iPhone from a non-authorized dealer which might indicate that it had been jailbroken, not truly unlocked.

If Tigo allows APN editing, see this page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2283

and confirm that the APN settings are correct per Tigo's instructions. If those settings don't appear, then tigo is apparently not allowing APN editing, either by policy or something in the linkup to your iPhone, so it may not recognize the APN change made via the iPhone configuration utility. I doubt that this is something that Apple could help you with, though you could call them. Apple doesn't have direct iPhone support in Colombia, though - support is provided by the carriers - so you'd have to call the US, using one of the workarounds to allow you to call a US 800 number from outside the country.

Regards.

I assume you actually subscribe to a data plan with your carrier?

Maybe you can find someone else in your area who has managed to get an iPhone working correctly on that network. I don't know where to steer you if the carriers suggestions didn't work. As for them not being able to make changes to iPhones for 'contractual reasons'. I call shenigens... that's just a load of bull. What they mean is, "you didn't buy it from us, we ain't gonna wast time on it". Which is understandable, but they should just say that outright instead of feeding you a line.

According to Apple ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 ) Tigo is a supported carrier and support is provided through the carrier, not through Apple.

See if you can find anything useful here: http://www.tigo.com.co/seccion/iphone

Maybe the support drone(s) you spoke to were just clueless.

Hi, I bought the phone actually one week ago, the phone on other services is working correctly, calls, sms, etc... but when accesing internet it shows a captive web page from tigo asking to buy a plan for using internet. This indicates that somehow the iphone is connecting, but when I called support from tigo they say that the page displays only when the APN is not set correctly, and all the instructions given by them is from older OS version where the APN was setup on settings - general - network.....

So they have no idea, plus they say that as per contractual reasons they cannot make changes to iphones, that I should contact support from apple.

Thanks, actually tigo's website on support redirects me to apple website, and apple to tigo's site, so that is a dead end, I'll try contacting tigo againg, as per the apple page support is supposed to be done by tigo, still the options on the APN on the path Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network. is no longer available for OS 4.3.3 I believe, and actually this is kind of new, so I think tigo has no experience on this OS version.

I don't know if it is posible to downgrade the OS to test with a version with APN setting as before, still have to see if there is any forum with this information, as far as I know the factory version my iphone came with is 4.3.3 so I don't know if downgrade is posible.

Thanks any way for all the replies...
