Jul 29, 2015 2:07 PM in response to bluebearddubby AngieCorbett,This just happened to me. IT IS NOT YOUR SUPERDRIVE!!! I just copied data to 30 DVD's perfectly, and ran in to a bad disk that wouldn't eject. After spending 1/2 a day trying to figure it out I finally did!!! (command E, power down, turn superdrive upside down, almost used the screwdriver suggestion (LOL)) Hope this helps someone and will save you lot of time!!! On Macbook Air...Open up FINDER - on the top menu bar go to GO - Scroll down to UTILITIES - double click - DISK UTILITY - wait for Superdrive to respond - HIGHLIGHT on the left of the scree the CD - Click EJECT - Good luck!

Sep 1, 2015 10:45 AM in response to juliefromgenevaby warnl002,I'm so glad I stumbled upon this. I was just trying to burn a CD and then when it came to ejecting it, nothing was happening. I tried everything and then I found this comment. I was a bit sceptical at first thinking why was the volume key going to eject my disk but it really did work!!!

Sep 29, 2015 8:29 PM in response to sctmillerby Polyglotte,This happened to me and NONE of the answers here helped. I finally called Apple and was told to turn the laptop off, leave the superdrive plugged into it, turn the laptop back on and - at the same time - left click on the finger pad. Voila! it popped out.

Mar 14, 2016 3:45 PM in response to sctmillerby hwhuyler,Similar issue. I have iMac 21 inch with Apple external CD drive plugged into USB. CD wouldn't eject. UPSIDE down didn't work. Function and F12 while turning off and Function and F12 turning back on worked.
