cracked glass

Hello,

I dropped a wrench on my 27" cinema display. What are my options for having the glass repaired. It's a impact with 6 inch spider cracks near the iSight.

Thanks....and yes....I'm hugely embaressed.

According to the service manual I got my hands on the Apple part number for the 27" LED cinema display glass is 922-9344. Stick "922-9344 glass" into google and you will find a bunch of places selling it. For example, like this one ($150.00). If you have Apple repair it of course it will be more (Apple markup, labor, etc.). I assume other Mac (repair) places can do it too (e.g., Mac-pro probably can do this sort of thing) but I wouldn't even guess the cost. I've seen posts (check ifixit.com) about removing the glass using suction cups because it's only held in with magnets (and hinged on the bottom). So another option would be get it (and some appropriate suction cups) and do it yourself.

You better hope it's only the glass! Because if the LCD panel behind the glass is cracked (Apple part number 661-5542) forget it. Sampling that number with google shows a replacement cost as much as the entire display (~$999.00)!
