I'm in the process (apparently a never ending one) of transferring an oldish orchestral library to EXS instruments, so I'm using the original CD's (there are 6 of them) and using the Akai import function.
When you first select the import option, the window comes up with different columns and it says 'waiting for Akai disk' or something across all of them - put your Akai formatted disk (that's what we're talking about, the ability to read the particular format of the disk itself) in there and it should show you what's on the CD and you should be able to load stuff from a particular column, in theory, so its OK to a particular degree - if you're talking about a sampler 'program' in Akai terms ('instrument' in EXS terms), it does bring in the program and the associated samples if its a simple set of assignations across the keyboard.
The trouble that I have is that the different velocity layers for the instruments (the set of Forte or Piano samples, for example, in some cases there are four different velocity levels) aren't able to be assigned to the same instrument all at once. I used Akai samplers for quite a while before I got into Logic and there's a 'Merge' function there that I'd really like to see in EXS at the moment.
