ipad 2 to TV HDMI settings?

I connected my ipad2 to an lcd tv with the HDMI cable. The image is on the TV but it is very small, perhaps 1/3 of screen. i suspect my settings are not correct. Advice?

Are you speaking about mirroring the iPad in general or are you having issues with a particular app. My iPad in general fills the display, but ripped movies in VLC are smaller than the display, but iTunes movies in the Video app also fill the display.

This was automatic. The only setting of which I am aware are Settings/Video/TV Out. I have Widescreen turned on.

I'm having the same, or at least similar issue. No matter what type of video file it is, the image on th eTV screen is small. Can not get full sized video on TV screen.

So if I set the TV's resolution to 720p you think it will work correctly? iPad 2 is supposed to support up to 1080p, but if 720 will give me full screen, I'll try it.
