Why is Quicktime 7.0.4 required for iLife '06?

Is it required? If not, what advantages does 7.0.4 have over 7.0.3?

G5 dual 2.5GHz, Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The applications won't launch unless QT 7.0.4 has been installed.
It will just ask you to update your QT if you have 7.0.3 or less.
