Question: How to change Apple ID on iPhone

I had to change my email address and I've also changed it in iTunes, however now I can't log into iTunes to purchase apps from my iPhone. It still shows my old Apple ID and I can't figure out how to change it. I've synced my phone with computer but doesn't help.

I had the same problem. Someone please help me!

I created a brand new account with a new Apple ID and password. I signed out of my account from Settings > Store on my iPhone. I quit out of App Store. I restarted my phone. Then signed back in from Settings > Store. Then opened the App Store. Tried to update an app... and my old Apple ID was still there!! So I obviously couldn't log in with my new ID and password!

This is getting a little frustrating cuz I tried everything that they've suggested here. And some of the suggestions I can't even try because it won't changed my ID to the new one.

Please help!

YES! this worked. Other answers recommended wiping the iPhone and starting as new. Don't need to do that. Just go to the Store as recommended. I didn't succeed by creating a new ID, as it told me mine already existed, but log in with the CORRECT ID.

THANK YOU!!!

1. Go to Settings > Store and logout your ID.

2. I restarted my iPhone, but probably you don't need to

3. Go to the app Store and update your apps / buy an app

4. The app Store will ask you to login

5. Tap Login with existing account and fill it with your new account details

That's it!

I changed my apple ID for home sharing, so I tried the above method to change the ID on the iphone. But it does not change, when I try to update apps I am still prompted for the password for the old ID?

Same frustrating problem of iPhone's App Store asking for password with an obsolete Apple username.

Specific situation:

> I had a free flashlite app loaded a couple of years back.

> App Store indicated an update

> Clicked on "update" and iPhone asked for password for obsolete username's password.

> Went through all of the "fixes" in this thread including shutting down iPhone after logging out.

> App Store still asks for obsolete username do to update.

> I was able to load new apps without the obsolete username coming up.

> My Assumption:

- The flashlite app loaded two years ago was associated

with the Apple Username at that time and nothing in the above

thread was going to change that association.

- Brute force solution:

- delete the Flashlite app (it was free anyway)

- Search and download the same flashlite app.

- Bingo, same app in place (updated) and iPhone is not asking me for password

to obsolete username anymore. At least for that app.

> We'll see if some other old apps, if they ever have any updates,

ask for the obsolete username.

Given my 48 years associated with software, I'm expecting to see this problem rise up again. (I wrote programs for Michigan State's hand-made vacuum tube computer in an Intro to Programming class in 1963, the last course in my undergrad engineering degree.)

My wife and I have separate iphones but with the same Apple ID. Its irritating that we get each others apps etc.

Can I just change the Apple ID on her phone to a new one, knowing that the original Apple ID will still be there for me to use.

She does not care about not being able to update Apps purchased with the original ID.

Hope this is possible without having to reset/restore her phone and start again.

Any help or re-assurances would be appreciated.

I am on the latest release 5.0.1 and once you discover how to do this it is so obvious

settings, store, apple id, sign out, sign in, use existing, "key in the desired id", ok, enter password, ok

All app download by any id remain on the iphone until deleted or phone is reset. I assume only the apps downloaded with the active apple id will get updated.

It didn't dawn on me to just click on the id to change it. You can switch back and forth between id's and have multiple apple accounts if you desire.

Thanks for sharing about changing ID's on store settings on iPhone, I didn't know to do this - but my updates still want to refer to my original username not the new account id - if I'm understanding correctly from other comments I need to delete & re purchase all of my apps but SURELY this can't be the case, it's seems such a simple bug that should have been attended to ages ago - I'm on iPhone 3 but even iPhone 4S users seem to be having the same problem - it's ok for the free one's but what about Apps that have been purchased?!?
