Have had major problems with this using the provided software and no software using only the pre installed mac software is there a driver update available??

You need to contact US Cellular. It's their unit and I would suspect you're on their service plan. In as much as they say it's compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 have them demonstrate that to you.
