Dropped my phone down toilet, it wont turn on. any help please?

I'm not that person who constantly breaks their cell phone and is always needing a replacement. I generally keep my phone safe however I happen to be the type who sticks it i

n my back pocket often. I'm always running late, preventing a disaster, or going to the restroom last minute. Pants down in a jiffy and the phone flies out of my pocket then seemingly in the toilet before bouncing out into the floor. You see this is a possibility for others, but I've never actually dropped my phone in the toilet...

It's finished, especially if you have turned it on since the drop. Take it to an Apple store, you can get a 'non-warranty' replacement for (I believe) $199

Place it in a bag of dry rice overnight.

Learned that trick from AT&T when my daughter accidently washed her phone. I dropped mine in there too and placed it in rice. Been working fine every since.

On an iPhone overnight won't do it, need to leave it for at least 5 - 7 days.

Even then if the iPhone was powered on the screen or backlight may be damaged.

Overnight did it for me mine didn't stay in the water long in and out. But others may need it longer

Must have been very little water and you avoided the temptation to use it before driving.

I continue to be amazed at the number of people who lob their iPhones into toilets. How? Are they confusing phones with toilet paper? Do they not feel the difference? Within which orifice are they carrying their phones? If the phone is in a shirt pocket, why do they adopt a pose which launches it therefrom? I genuinely do not understand! Really!

DUH!!!! 😁It isnt intentional. Mine was in my dress pocket and as I was cleaning it fell out and plopped in. Guess it happens frequently enough there is a waterproof cover for the iPhone.

Only thing that I have heard working is rice. Try putting whole phone in rice for a day at least! Good luck. John

I'll continue to use my cheapskate version of the waterproof cover: iPhone don't go into bathroom.... bathroom bad. Bathroom steamy. Bathroom got strangely magnetic iPhone attracting toilet.... 😁

Also, do people seriously consider using their iPhone near their mouth and face after it's been in the toilet? I think I'd rather just buy a new one...

Don't know if you are male or female but if you dropped your diamond ring down the toilet would you not get it out and wear it? If you dropped $500 in the toilet would you not go in and get it and put it back in your wallet after it dried out? Also, there is something called a bluetooth so you don't have it by your mouth. I won't get graphic but there are several things that go in people's mouth that are worse than fresh toilet water....😁
