Macbook Pro- 2006 RAM

Hi I was wondering what kind and how much RAM would cost for the original 2006 Macbook Pro computer. Right now I have 2 sticks of 1 GB, I was wondering if I wanted to go up to 4 GB how much that would cost, and where/what I can get it.
Thanks,

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 17"

If you have the Core Duo model, then you can install a maximum of 2 GBs. If you have a Core 2 Duo model then you can install 4 GBs of which only 3 GBs will be usable.

Open System Profiler in your Utilities folder. Note the Model Identifier. If it shows "1,2" then you have a Core Duo. If it says "2,1" then it's a Core 2 Duo model. The latter were released in October 2006.

Both models use 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM. You can purchase RAM many places. I recommend DataMem and OWC.
