Why won't the audio sycn at 25fps?

I've shot some video on my DSLR (Canon 5dm2) and recorded audio separately on Zoom H4n at 44.1khz. If I shoot the video at 24fps is syncs perfectly using the auto sync function in the event's window. However, if I shoot the video at 25fps it won't sync.

I have the exact same problem, all my recent work at 25fps cannot be synced with my Zoom H4n files at all, however, on messing around with the camera and zoom, i put it to 24pfs and the zoom to 44.1khz at 24bit, it synced perfectly....great, however, i want to shoot at 25fps....there must be a way? I even tried to convert the 25fps footage via various softwares to conform to 24fps and sync it that way....no good....doesnt work at all, is FCPX only suited to 24fps or have i missed something?

I have tried everything to resolve this with no luck so I am still waiting to find out what to do. Another problem which I will post separately is that even when you do shoot at 24fps 1080 after syncing with the audio in the Event browers the resultant compound clip converts to 720p. Have you had the same experience with that?

Yes, I have the same problem. I did find a workaround though. I converted all my 25fps clips to 23.98 using a batch sequence in the new compressor, then they could be synced up with the audio, but still only to 720.

Seems there is a lot of improvements required, I am sure this software will be great in about a year once they fix everything they should have done before they happily took our cash!

Check this, select a 24fps clip and in the inspector click the info button at the top. What is the audio sample rate?

Do the same for the 25fps clip.

Then do the same for the audio only clip.

Is the 5DmII video recording audio at 48kHz for both 24fps and 25fps? My DSLR only records 48kHz audio but it's an NTSC model so it won't do 25fps.

I still think it's an audio problem. Audio is key here for syncing since FCP X uses the audio tracks to sync things up.

I think you'll find its most likely not an audio problem, as when me and my colleagues do everything the same in 24fps or 25fps the sync only works perfectly with 24fps. Notice in the inspector that everything is being converted to 24fps 720, thats the problem during sync that it converts the frame rate without conforming it thru a proper means, i.e. compressor, if u do that urself first, then it works fine.

Heres hoping they fix it on the next release.

yes, this works fine if u nudge manually....as u say, will have to wait for them to fix...nice of them to make us pay for software that is basically beta version....last night i tried to edit a simple 4 minute interview, the program crashed at least 10 times, freezes up, etc, etc, on a state of the art i7 with 16GB ram.....dont get me wrong, i love the interface and the idea of this software, buts its far from ready....

if want to use sync, then u must convert your VIDEO clip in compressor or similar from 25fps to 23.98fps. You can then use that video clip to seamlessy sync with your audio, and it will produce at 720p 23.98fps clip. There is no current support for 25fps sync or 1080 sync (that I can see)....If your not sure of Compressors other functions, just google it, is very useful and so far that software is worth the money, as is motion......

Why won't the audio sycn at 25fps?
