Ok it worked know what os do I need to run this I ran it on leopard and said would not work on this machine so i am going to try this on tiger and see what happens if I doesn't work will try something else
The machine I have is a 2.3 g5 dp machine don't know if this helps
One should always test in Open Firmware mode.
You do have the ASD burned to disc as described in the Read Me files?

Your machine probably uses 2.5.8.
Hmmm. Googling "ASD 2.6.3" got me here.
I recently purchased a Quad G5 off ebay, and still need an HDD and powercable forit, which havebeen ordered... I opened the DVDdrive and found a burned DVD labeled "ASD 2.6.3"
I take it this is a badsign in termsofwhether it works or not? I've checked the case out and it looks just fine... pretty dusty but I cleaned that out.I haven'tbeen able to look at the LCS,but fromwhat I have been able to see inside it, apart from being realy dusty there seems like no liquids ever damaged/leaked...
Once I get the DVD read I could send u a copy if you'd like=)
Dan
While you are waiting for your new HD to arrive, you could always try to boot from the DVD and run the tests and see if your new Quad passes. đ
And congrats on your "new" Quad! I still use mine as my main machine!

Just out of curiosity, why would you think that the ASD would help? AFAIK, thermal calibration is needed for uncalibrated CPUs, which can basically mean either new CPUs (to the particular motherboard) or CPUs that have switched places. Maybe, the calibration data can get corrupted in some really weird scenarios, but that would sound fairly uncommon. The symptom of uncalibrated CPUs is fans going full blast, from the start.
trying to download but dies mid attempt from site below.
by chance do you have the Apple Service Diagnostic 2.6.3 ISO please?
I have a PowerMac G5 same listed on this link from Everymac
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/specs/powermac_g5_dual_2.0.htm l
(yes I do have 3 USB 2.0 ports on the back along with 2x Gigabit Ethernet. I'll get RAM and HDDs today or Tuesday as I bought this unit for $100CAN without them (a VC is installed, some NVida with 2x DVI ~ one being dual-link).
I've always wanted this machine since it debuted with front cover on macworld mag featuring Panther. I even still have the Panther Dog Tags đ
My main machine is a mid 2011 13" uMBP 2.7ghz Core i7 but I somehow feel this G5 has some serious power left in it; beyond the number crunching geekbench reports.
When I was in "french" class in junior high, (long time ago) the teacher used to say "haste makes waste".
Surprisingly, to this day, that quote is still true. đ (well, at least for me it is)
thanks

Did you forget to save the changes the 1st time? đ
If available would someone pm me a link to Apple Service Diagnostic ASD v3S148? I had it on flash drive and inadvertantly deleted t and I can only find every other ASD except the one I need. Many thanks in advance for any help
Look for a file share site or torrent .
Otherwise, your email is hidden in your profile, so no one could send a copy if so inclined.....
not hidden anymore all the torrents and file shares i have used and downloaded seem to b no good
That should help.
Ok any good places to get 2.5.8 the one I downloaded does nothing
How did you burn it to a CD?
Have you replied to any eMails you got?
Check your email.
I'd love to get a copy of ASD 2.6.3 as well since my quad 2.5 G5 Late 2005 is starting to have some heating issues and may need fan calibration in the not too distant future.
Thanks!
