I curently have the iMac 24" from 2009 and am looking to upgrade. Not sure exactly what RAM is used for it. I have 2 sticks of Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3-8500S-07-10-F2, is this compatible and isnt this machine capacle to upgrade to 8GB RAM?

I believe the Samsung RAM you mentioned is compatible. If you have not purchased it yet then I'd also recommend either Crucial or OWC (www.macsales.com) RAM.

That is correct, to get 8GB total each stick must be 4GB.
