I entered a test address when setting up iCloud, but now cannot find out how to change this to the email I would like with the @me.com ending. Any ideas?

    SOULUTION!!!!!......

To change your iCloud address, on your iPhone- you can go to Settings > iCloud > Then delete the account. Set up a new one under the iCloud option agian. There is an option to change the extention when creating the account username.

And that way you can also sign into itunes/app store with your @me account and wal la all your accounts and info is your @me account.

    Lodragons,

Did you actually try this?  Because when I have tried this it merely severes the connection with the icloud servers. After deleting and when i return to icloud settings to redo..... the previously entered email address is still saved with my AppleID. Under the icloud account information the email address prevously entered is locked in with no option for edit.  It apears that the email address is saved on their servers with no option for adjustment by the end user.

DON'T DO THIS guys - DON'T delete your iCloud email or anything like that as it may your stuff out of sync, or cause more issues as many pointed out here.

With iCloud mail you can create up to 3 aliases which become a fully functional email address.

Simply create the one you're missing and et voila!

To create an alias get to iCloud mail web interface and set it up in settings.

    Hope this helps.

There is no way to change email?  Seriously?  That is the most re-tarded thing I've ever heard.  And deleting the iCloud account didn't work for me.  Apple, you need to fix this!

bzx has the right answer, everyone.  Simply create an e-mail alias, which acts like its own @me.com mail account.  You can create up to 3 additional addresses that can be used to send and receive messages.  You and your recipients won't know the difference.

There is no way to change an @me.com e- mail address once it's been saved to the cloud. I think discovered a different problem though.

I tried using the same format for my @me account as for my Yahoo account, name.name@me.com

It saved fine but I'm unable to send or receive with the account. For outgoing mail I get an SMTP error. For incoming mail I receive, in my Yahoo account, an undeliverable mail error.

So I think, don't know for sure, that there's a problem with the period in the address prefix.

This the error message I continue to get after creating my @me.com e-mail address.

The connection to the outgoing server "p08-smtp.mail.me.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

I have no idea why this is happening and it happens on my iPad and iPhone.

Me too, I had spent a couple hours trying to find out a way  to change my iCloud email address...  I had a typo in my name... so after a while I called Apple Support in Europe.

They told me to use the iCloud-System tool on a Mac (latest Mac upgrade) and then login using my Apple ID, then delete the misspelled e-mail address, and then create a new one.  I couldn't do this either within a browser or on a PC, Apple support said.

So I checked with my Apple store in town but they didn't upgrade their Macs yet.  So I'll have to wait until next week to perform my corrections using their Mac...

Anybody out there for us to post a link with some schreenshots from this iCloud-System tool I mentioned that I could show to the guy at my Apple store?

Thanks, a good weekend to everyone!

...and deleting my account on my iPhone didn't work for me.  In case anyone knows what to do, I'd spend a drink!

I have the exact same problem. My wife's .me email is attached to my iCloud. Not only does it make my personal iCloud useless for me, it also locks her out of using her personal .me email address. It really seems this should be a solvable problem.

iCloud forums are up now, with no less than 4 specific topics to choose from.

iCloud is out of beta, so unless you have specific developer related technical queries, please use the user-centric iCloud forums, thanks.

Again, Matt's solution does not work for me.  After deleting my iCloud account on my iPhone, I am not getting prompted (to enter any e-mail address) when re-installing the account again on my iPhone...  All those previous settings are still there...

I made sure that I turned off all services before deleting my account.  Also, I did perform a reset on my iPhone... nothing helped.

What are you guys doing different to make this work?
