How to rename folder in Final Cut Pro X project library?

Try this:

1. In the Event Library, select the Event whose name you want to change. 2. Do one of the following:

Click the Eventʼs name and type a new name. Press Return and type a new name.

I'm having the same problem; I can do it happily in the Event library, but I cannot see how to do it in the project library; pressing return beeps at me; double-click does nothing and right-click offers new folder, new project or delete project - so how do I name a folder I make?

Never mind; found the answer on another thread - rename does not work while there are background tasks running :-).

Stupid. Final Cut should at least tell you that. Thanks anyway for the answer!

You can rename a project while background tasks are in progress.

Select the project in the Browser.

Press Cmd+4 to open the Inspector.

In the bottom-right corner of the Inspector is a spanner (wrench) icon.

Click that icon, and a dropdown appears. You can rename the project in there.

I think you may have misunderstood - the question is regarding renaming a project "folder", not a project name.

Still, the accepted answer here makes no sense to me at all - it's about renaming an event. So we're all confused ;-)

BTW as of 10.0.5, I still cannot rename a project folder while background tasks are running - no clue is given that this is what's going on, second-clicking on the folder just (frustratingly) does nothing. When background tasks finish, it works again.

A project is a folder. If a background task is happening it's happening inside that folder. You can't rename a folder while files are being built inside it.

Hmmm...I'm having thisproblem even with new folders which I have not addesd anything to and just mistyped the name and want to change it after.

Renaming a folder works just like renaming a file or folder in the Finder.

Click the folder name; then click a second time to make the name editable (not a double click, but two separate clicks).
