no, the point of the alarm is when the iPod is connected to external speakers by a dock and a cable, the spearkers will play the alarm. Look at the apple store for docking speakers, or buy cheap speakers, and they ushually come with a cord to connect a dock with

no the clicker speaker is only used for the clicking sound. No one wares headfones when the sleep!! Ill say it again the alarm is ment for when the iPod is connected by a dock to external spearkers!

ok well maybe its not the clicker speaker but some buzzing comes out of the iPod itself wen u turn the alarm on buzzer.

trust me i just tryed this all last night cuz i had to set it for the first time.

it even works wen u have it on hold and wen its off and even wen its already playing a song

It seems you have to have the click sound set to On for the alarm to buzz. With the playlist-option selected it doesn't matter.
I wouldn't trust either to wake me up for an early morning plane, though.

What happens is if you choose the Alarm sound to be "Beep", the iPod will beep from its internal beeper/speaker. Very unfortunately, in only beeps for about 2 seconds and then goes off. That is entirely not acceptable because a 2 second beep is not going to get most people up from bed. In the next firmware update, I hope Apple enables a longer beep. Not all of us have speakers connected to the iPod when we sleep. I sometimes have my earphones on and then fall asleep. And of course, in the morning, the earphones are nowhere near my ears.

You are so wrong. first of all, the beep sound does come from an internal speaker. i said i wasn't really sure if it was the clicking speaker. and Second, learn how to use the correct form of "wear". It'd be wear, not ware. Third, obviously people wear headPHones when they sleep.

Why wont my alarm work? I set it to beep, yet it never sounds. And where can I find the "buzz" option?

i think by "buzz" he means beep. and im not sure why its not working but i'm going to see if having your clicker off makes a difference.

EDIT: yep turning the clicker off also turns the beep sound off

Oh yeah, cuz' I keep the clicker off, its annoying.
