Trojan Gen 2 virus
Norton tells me I have an f1adcf-4de9ed3f Trojan Gen. 2 that it can't repair. It appears the other options Norton has are only for PCs. Any recommendations on where to look for a repair?

The repair is to uninstall Norton and never install it or any other commercial "anti-virus" software again. It's all garbage, and Norton is the worst.

I'll look around a little bit more

So far I think that it's written for windows and that it's stored in the Java cache.
That is a windows executable file, not much use on a Mac!
Uninstall Norton and don't replace it.
Here is my understanding that over the years and that's about 15 years for my use on the Mac side there have only been some phishing virus's that have come up on the Mac/Apple side of alerts. I have never had one.
Few things to keep in mind don't open mail and especially attachments from users you do not know. I do feel that with the popularity of the Apple OS system me may see virus's. For that keep your software up to date and still don't play in waters that you don't know how deep it is!
For your issue I am leaning that it not an attack on your OS delete file!
I went to the symantec site and found a discussion from 2009 that addressed a similar problem. The symantec reply gave two options for removing it. One of them worked.
I just posted the following on my blog:
Trojan.Gen.2 malware is not a Mac threat

Sam --
You can do a search here for "Norton."
It's a real curse.
Sam,
How are things going with your machine now?
I struggled with this bloody infection for more than 12 hours and finally I gave up and asked some guys from here: http://www.onlinepcsavior.com/what-is-trojan-gen-2-and-how-to-get-rid-of-trojan- gen-2/ to help me remove it completely.
I am now curious about how to prevent my machine from being infected with Trojan. Gen.2 or infections of this kind again😟 Is there a way?

Yes. Use a Mac.
Don't listen to those who pretend that you don't need any protection software for Mac, I can very easily proove you the countrary.
The only reasons the Mac has not been attacked in proportions like windows is because it has not been financially interesting sofar for those who create malware. Since the community is growing, the interest is also growing. The worst is when you believe that there is no threat and decide to ignore security aspect. I agree though, that Norton is not known for being a useful software on the Mac. Unless you never do online banking, you never open attachement or links in your mails, you only visit websites you have known for a long time, you don't use PDF documents, you only open photos you made yourself ... I would still recommend to have VirrusBarrier6 or an Antivirus with longterm Mac experience. If you don't want to install any antivirus, the minimum is a tool like Little Snitch.

How did you do that? As has already been said, Trojan.Gen.2 is not Mac malware! It does not affect a Mac. So I'm curious what you were struggling with.

Your Mac cannot be infected with Trojan.Gen.2, so there's nothing you need to do to avoid such an infection. As for other malware that does affect the Mac, see my Mac Virus Guide*.

Little Snitch is not anti-virus software and is of little utility to someone who does not want to (or is not able to) learn all about the network connections being made every day by their Macs, and which ones are normal and which are not.
Agree, but if you have a malware on your system, Little Snitch is probably the best way to discover it. Which malware does not try to communicate to the outside world ? Once it is configured it is silent until a new peace of programm tries to send information through your network.
