May be a REALLY dumb question but I'm stuck

All right so I just got my iPod and iTrip the otehr night and I cant get my iTrip to work. I put it on the frequency it is supposed to be played at but I get nothing.

This is where my dumbness may play a factor (lol) I didnt install the disc iTunes came with. I installed my friends iPod for him at his house and he uses his iTrip no prob, he never installed anything for it, just tuned it to 87.9 I belive and plays it. With me it wont work.

Now if I do have to install the disc, how can I remove it as a playlist. It's just annoying have to worry about the 5 second gap it plays if I have my songs on shuffle.

Sorry again is this is a dumb question, I'm just confused a bit. Thank you

Hey Mini.
OK...I'm gonna take a crack at your problem.
If you have the new iTrip LCD you don't need to put all the frequencies on your iPod. If you have the "Orignial" iTrip...which it sounds like you do...then you have to install the frequencies under a playlist, say "FM Stations" or whatever. You can get the frequencies from the iTrip CD, or do what I did and go to Griffin's web site and download them all from there.
As for the problem of hearing the frequencies when you shuffle your music on your iPod...make a playlist in iTunes called "Music Library". Put all the songs from your library into that playlist except for the iTrip frequencies. Then after you have sync'ed your iPod just use that playlist to listen to your library on your iPod.

That figures. I ordered the iTrip like last week at the apple store, so I wonder why I'd get the older version. That's sorta lame imo. So I guess I'm stuck installing the fm stations and such. Thats a good idea to do that but I like to have shuffle because it gives the music at random. Like right now I just have all my cd's as playlists in themselves and shuffle is like the mega-mix lol.

Mini, Just shuffle your "Music Library" playlist on your iPod and you'll get the mega-mix your looking for.
As for the iTrip, you caught a break by getting the original one. The new iTrip LCD is a piece of crap! It makes a "popping" noise in between each song your pod plays! Sound is not as good either. I wish I still had my original iTrip.

Ok thanks. I installed the sfotware with the frequency 87.9 and the playlist is there and everything but still it is not working. is there anything else i have to do to make it work?

Mini, are all the frequencies(87.9 to 107.1 plus "LED On" & Off" in the playlist? Is the playlist on your iPod? Did you read the instructions on how to use the iTrip? Sorry...but I had to ask that question.

I need all the frequencies listed in the playlist just to run 87.9? I took em all out but 87.9 and the LED on/off.

all right apparently my ipod doesnt have the dock connector or sumthing, as far as I knew itrip would work on my ipod and i just wasted 30 bucks since it doesnt and it ticks me off.

i have the new 30gb ipod that plays video as well and im mad ****** that theres no connector for the itrip grrrrrrr

Mini, I guess you have the iTrip that worked on the 3rd & 4th generation iPods. Go to Griffin's web site. They have a new iTrip that works with the new 5G Video iPod. You should be able to take the one you got, back to where you purchased it.

I bought it straight from the appl website so I'm not sure if I can get a return on it but my buddy has an ipod mini and he said he give me the 30 for it so thats cool.
