I have two PCs connected only by a wi fi network (no LAN). My wife and I each have separate iTunes accounts. We want to share some music and apps between the computers (and our accounts). Is this possible through Home Sharing?
Yes. Both of you type in eachothers AppleID's and passwords on eachothers computers (your password on hers and vice versa) in the window for Home Sharing when you click Advanced in iTunes.
both machines must use the same iTunes store account (Apple ID) to enable home sharing.
once that's done, each iTunes can use their own iTunes accounts. you also can create a new Apple ID solely for home sharing.
yes, but by doing My method they can retain their own accounts and add eachothers apps/music etc. My method has worked before between my brother and I, this is the solution for MULTIPLE AppleID's.
i have three Macs and three iTunes store accounts. iTunes on each Mac is signed in to a different Apple ID.
still, home sharing can only be enabled using the same Apple ID.
Let me rephrase. My method works between 2 Mac's with different store accounts.

you should re-read what i posted above. it doesn't matter which Apple ID is used on the individual iTunes.
home sharing can only be activated when you use the same Apple ID on both machines. you won't be able to activate home sharing using Apple ID "X" on computer "A", and Apple ID "Y" on computer "B".
So... I did something and it works. Now you are telling me that it doesn't work, even if it does. Smart.
Just because it works, and it is not really how it should be used, doesn't mean it works nevertheless.
What I'm saying is that Apple ID X is signed in to iTunes on computer A. Apple ID Y is signed in to iTunes on computer B. If computer A authorises AppleID X and computer B authorises AppleID Y together, then there is a kind of loophole of sorts that will let you both have 2 different Home Sharings running side by side. I have gotten this to work, even if Apple doesn't want it to be used like that.
Anyway, Rich, have you tried my suggestion? I'm sure it should work.
