Be very afraid
My question is this: if Apple's pro market is now assuredly prosumer, who needs a Mac Pro? We used to await every update with bated breath for more professional capability in the ProApps, but that's history.
An iMac with CUDA graphics is affordable, it's democratising and it's so-so-modern. Desktops are for dinosaurs, man.
Given that the platforms to which real editors will migrate are better supported on the "dark" side, is there a market left for these machines? What else is Apple not telling us? Is the absence of a future Mac Pro the real reason for retiring PCIe-based output option in FCP X?
