exfat formatting problem

I have a couple of disks one 400gb one 2 TB. I formatted them in disk utility as exFat as i need to move between mac and PC.

whenever I take them to a pc it can't read them and windows asks to format them. It's windows 7 and it happens on a couple of computers so i know it's not an issue with a specific computer. So I format them on PC and both PC and Mac can read them. is there a bug in Mc OSX that causes them to not format properly? given that exfat is a microsoft format I wouldn't have thought there would be a problem.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Likely Macrosloth made some sort of security change and Apple hasn't gotten around to implementing it yet on their exFAT side of the fence.

I'll recommend anyone using exFAT to format it on the PC until the issue is resolved.

I'll also make a note of it in the Lounge.

Thanks for sharing that.
