Macbook Pro Freezing

Recently, my Macbook Pro (i7) keeps freezing. It becomes completely unresponsive and the only way option is to hold down the power button. It seems that hotter the computer becomes the more it freezes. An Apple technician ran several tests and he believes the problem is in the operating system. I highly doubt that because there seems to be a correlation between the temperature of the computer and the frequency for which it crashes. After using the computer for a couple hours it becomes very hot and crashes all the time, even during the boot process.

I've read other threads and it sounds like its a problem related to the battery.

Has anyone encountered similar problems? Does anyone know if damaged batteries can crash the computer?

Don't know about the battery but many people have been experiencing this. Sounds like it's time to make an appointment and take a trip to the Apple Store. Backup your data, as they'll likely have to do some hardware replacement.
