I'd like my daughter to be able to send text messages from her iPod Touch to my Mac. Is there a free app that is iOS and OS X compatible? I have been having very little luck finding something. I've worked on a Mac for years but am completely unfamiliar with portable devices. Help!

I don't know about texting, but you can use an instant messaging app that supports push notifcation like meebo. Then all you need is a free AIM account, and you use iChat on the Mac side.
