macbook battery

help!!! my macbook pro 13 inch was perfectly fine and wowy perfect til yesterday night..

when i need to revise for my exam, so i just let my macbook in sleep mode with about 90% battery

usually i encounter no problem cos when i came back from exams after a long day its still like 80%?

but now, my battery bar just show X and i cant turn on my macbookpro if i dont plug its charger!!! its so frustrating and now im stuck

near the power source in my home

any solution?? greatly appreciated

Hold Option and click on the battery icon top right.

Try doing a SMC Reset as it affects Battery Management. See if that does anything.

you can try downloading the istat pro app and check for exact details of your battery the life cycles used the remaining power in mAh

the SMC reset as aussieDJ said it's a useful solution

Yeah iStat Menu's is really good. I've been using it for years.

A quick easy way is:

Open up a Terminal window then copy, paste:

ioreg -l | grep Capacity

Output results should be similar to mine:

| | "MaxCapacity" = 11317

| | "CurrentCapacity" = 11291

| | "LegacyBatteryInfo" = {"Amperage"=0,"Flags"=5,"Capacity"=1131$

| | "DesignCapacity" = 13000

hmm i tried yr terminal command.. but i got current capacity and max cpacity 0!

then {"Amperage"=0,"Flags"=1,"Capacity"=0,"C$

i tried doing the restart stuff but now it gets worse i think i did it wrongly.. now my display colors so wierd..

u know normal mbp colours are real nice and smooth? this is like the normal brightness n contrast are like too bright and i can only set the F1 and F2 button for brightness control at 1...

omaygaud.. whats wrong with it... T_T

does that mean my battery is spoilt already? but i just got it las september.. sigh.. if i bring this to applecare centre would they exchange a new battery for me without charge? cos i really do not abuse e com..

If it say's 0, then the battery musn't be touching the terminals properly.

If you have AppleCare, take it in to have it looked at.

If it were me, I would open it up to see what is going on.

If you are not experienced with apple hardware, you risk breaking something.

hmm.. i see... oh dear oh dear.. a fantabulous com when it is working properly.. super irritating with its problems but anyway thatnks so much for the ideas n advices.. shall go there tmr..

yea... i guess i would certainly damagae more than i repair haha.
