error codes 43 and 35

Hello, I am having trouble with deleting something off a flashdrive. I moved (or thought I moved) some pics from iPhoto to a flashdrive and now, although they have .jpg on the end of them, I cannot open them or delete them. I get error 43 for opening them and error code 35 for deleting them. They indicate zero KB, but if I try to move anything else onto the flshdrive it says there is not enough room (even small files).

Help! I need to get these icons/pics/whatever they now are off this flashdrive!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

How did you move the photos from iPhoto to the Flash Drive?

As for the freeing up the (previously used) space on the Flash Drive, you will need to Empty the iMac's Trash while the Flash Drive is still mounted.

I had iPhoto open and just dragged the photos over to the flash drive. I tried emptying the iMac trash and then dragging the apparently incomplete files over to the trash from the flash drive and I still get error 35 that says the operation can't be completed because one or more required items can't be found. I even tried putting it onto another Mac and doing it and it still gives the same error code.

however I can now put things onto the flash drive, so thank you!!!!! Now to try to get the icons for those photos back off....

I just tried doing the transfer of photos the proper way by doing an export and it asked me if I wanted to replace the ones with the same name and I said yes. Then it indicated there wasn't enough space, so I said cancel - an miraculously those icons all disappeared from the flash drive!!!! So that is corrected anyway and I can just get another flash drive for the rest of these!!

Thank you again!!!

Open Disk Utility and highlight the FlashDrives first Icon in the list of Drives,

User uploaded file

then select the Erase tab and click the Erase... button,

User uploaded file

that should Erase and get rid of everything on the FlashDrive.

Once again, it is important to always Empty the iMac's Trash after deleting/trashing anything from a FlashDrive or External HD to free up that used space.

Thank you for this answer den.thed - I had a couple of files 'disappear' although they were still listed - but I wanted to find them again. Your answer gave me a place to look to restore files. I repaired flash drive from disk utility and moved files to my documents. I did notice that once opened again on flash drive problem came back so I repeated process and it repaired itself again. Opens ok in documents and made a 2nd copy to be sure.

I am experiencing the same issue, when trying to empty the trash can with an external HD plugged in, and getting error code -35. I have repaired the drive using DU but I don't want to erase the entire thing as there are still important files on there that I'd like to keep. I just want to erase the ones that are in the trash can now. Nothing is working, TrashIt, Onyx all not responding once they are started and Finder keeps being unable to find certain files and gets stuck partway through. Help?
