Can I use Airport Express to listen to non-iTunes content without use of Airfoil?

I have been using Airfoil and it works well, but I'm wondering if Apple is now providing a way to send non-itunes audio to Airport Express units.

I think that you will need to plan to continue to use AirFoil.

In addition to Airfoil, there are:

oAEP (Windows)
JustePort (Windows)
raop_play (Linux)
PulseAudio (Linux, Mac, Windows)

I have the same question. But I using the ipad, the airport express icon came up on the screen and connected without Airfoil. Hmmm maybe the ipad has airfoil built in? Any other explanations?
