Time Machine backup stalls

Hello,

Time-machine/time capsule are not working properly. For some reason, the making-back-up progress gets stuck at the very beginning (example, at 64mb of 5 gb). I left it "working" for over 12 hours and nothing happens.

[A second external hd which I also use as a back up with time machine works ok.]

I installed the widget, and get this message below. Any help?

Thank you.

Auto-reply:

things seem to have been solved after excluding from the back up the old folder containing the virtual pc. But I ignore whether the problem is more serious than that (given that, before, Time Machine had not trouble in making whole back ups including that unused file/folder).

You're right to exclude that. To OSX (and Time Machine), that's a single huge file. When the smallest change is made to it, Time Machine must back up the whole thing (if it can). That will, of course, take lots of time and fill up your TC rather quickly.

You'll need to find another way to back it up. I don't do Windoze, but understand there's a WinClone app that may work.
