Error code 0x80070570 during install of Windows 7 64-bit

Hi

I have a Macbook Pro 2008 - 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. It has 8Gb of RAM. I have run Windows 7 on this machine before successfully so I do not know what has changed except for the RAM.

The steps I took are below.

- start bootcamp

- repartition hard drive (successful) - 70GB

- insert Windows 7 64 bit disc (original - bought at launch) when instructed and select restart via Bootcamp

- boots into Windows 7 installer successfully

- I select Advanced installation

- I format the Bootcamp partition

- then installation starts. It reaches Expanding Windows File stage. At 42% an error occurs (below).

"Windows cannot install required files. The file maybe corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x080070570"

This can be reproduced every single time and at the same exact stage and percentage. I have tried different partition sizes with no success. I am using the original discs from Microsoft and also tried a copy of the disc with the same exact results. My Macbook Pro could install 8GB of RAM due to a secret firmware upgrade from Apple and it was discovered by some fix it site and they announced it which resulted in Kingston selling an upgrade kit which I purchased and installed. It works like a charm with OSX. Everything runs very smoothly and there are no errors at all on OSX. I can even run Final Cut Pro X and it uses all my RAM with no errors or crashes, so I am at a loss.

I hope someone out there has had similar issues and found a way to resolve it. Thank you.

Hi,

I am having the exact same issue on a gen 3 (mid 2011) Macbook Air with 4gb ram. 32 bit windows 7 installs no problem at all but the 64 bit version dies after uncompresing all the files with "Windows cannot install required files. The file maybe corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x080070570"

I have successfully installed windows 7 64 bit on my iMac 27" so am perplexed as to why I can't on this new Macbook Air.

Who to go to for help on this - Apple or MS? It seems the bootcamp part is working and maybe it's some hardware issue?

Any advice appreciated.

I replaced the Apple provided RAM back to the MBP and still had the same exact issues. I had to source another official ISO and burned a disc and it now works fine. So it was a bad original Windows 64bit disc or it became bad over time - which is hard to fathom.

Thank you all. Best of luck to user miknz.

(My Solution) I was having the same exact problems as mentioned above while trying to install Windows 7 64 Professional on my new 27" imac i7 3.4 with 16 gb ram.

I shut off all my Bluetooth devices ie. keyboard and mouse and plugged in the ol usb keyboard and usb mouse which plugs into the keyboard.

I rebooted with the Win 7 install disc still in the drive and went through the install process again. (Flawlessly)

I don't think Windows knew what to make of the Bluetooth input devices.

I had this problem, most likely it is a Bad Memory or Bad DVDs. (Or bad disk.)

Not sure how Bluetooth could be the problem.

I hit it and and did a restart pressing "D" when it startup for the hardware check utility.

This then checks the memory, in my case bad!

Swaped out the old memory, sent it in for replacement, up and running again. (But not till I tried to install 20 times.)

Thanks

Hi together,

having the same issue with Book Pro Retina 15" and SSD hard drive. I created two USB sticks with windows 8 x64 and drivers. Then bootcamp has partitioned by drive so far ok. Then restart window8 installation starts. All steps everything fine. After formating bootcamp partition it starts installation. Very strange that copy of files takes no time and then at about 74% of unpacking windows files (second job in list). Have message about corruption of file.

Tryed already several times. Several times created new ISO and copied files wirth bootcamp on usb sticks. Helps nothing.

I have no CD/DVD drive on my mac. I think this is issue for Apple.

This happened to me too, when installing Windows 8.1 onto my mid-2011 iMac. I ended up restarting, holding down option, selecting disk utility and then repairing / repairing permission for all my drives. After that I restarted, held down option, selected Windows disc and that restarted the installation. Everything worked then. Hope that helps!

Was getting with error as well trying to install Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) on a 2014 15" Macbook Pro, NVIDIA, etc...

Removed partition using Bootcamp and performed a straight retry and it failed again.

Removed partition again, recreated boot-up USB using Bootcamp and it failed a second time.

Removed partition a 3rd time. Turned off bluetooth (a totally superstitious move), recreated ISO image. Recreated boot-up USB and it finally installed.

I just successfully installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 on BootCamp on Mac OS X Yosemite. Here is a step by step I just wrote, hope it helps y'all:

How to successfully install Windows 8, or above, on Mac OS X Mavericks or above:

Requirements:

1- Windows OS ISO Image file

2- An 8GBs USB Flash Drive

3- A good Internet connection as you will need to download the Windows compatible drivers for your Mac

Steps:

1- Open up Disk Utility and create an additional partition for Windows formatted as ExFat. 100GBs, or above, is recommended as update to the operating system, as well as Apps requiere space on your HD or SSD [This step can be done during Mac OS X's installation process]

2- Open up BootCamp Assistant

3- Make sure only the 'Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk' is checked and your USB Flash Drive plugged in and click 'Continue'

4- Click 'Choose' and select your Windows ISO Image file

5- Select the USB Flash Drive you will be using during the installation process and click continue to confirm

6- Once done, restart your Mac and hold down the 'alt/option' key on your keyboard to bring up the Boot Menu

7- Select the USB Flash Drive named Windows, not the UEFI Boot

8- Install Windows as you normally would

* Remember to press and hold the 'alt/option' key, and select the Windows Partition, whenever the installation process requires your Mac to restart
