Sandy Bridge i7 too hot ? Which EI to update ?

my processor, no matter when running window or macintosh,

especially window, will be overheat like fresh baked pancake,

rumor said is the problem of this batch while sandy bridge is not fully utilize to run with mac

but some how some one said they solve this by installing some EI update,

i check update frequently but may i know which EI to update

while the problem is not solve yet although i just run an update...

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Two things...


a) Are you running the laptop on a flat, hard surface? If not, there's 1/2 your problem. The Al chassis is designed to dissipate heat so avoid putting it on your lap or on a pillow.


b) (Running as Mac) Run Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder....view All Processes and sort by CPU %. See what (if anything) is chewing up CPU cycles thus making the computer work harder. That would be the other 1/2 of your issue. Running your machine in Windows will run the dedicated GPU only. Dedicated GPU = More Heat.


You can always run Apple Hardware Test as an Extended Test for good measure.
