Trying to install the Brother MFC-J220 printer to my mac. I followed installation disc but my mac does not list the Brother as a printer.c

This is my first time using this so please be patient.

Thanks so much for your help. I already did try that yesterday but my mac is not listing the new printer as an option to choose. It's as if the downloads and installations are not taking. I even tried to shut down completely thinking maybe there was a glitch. Any other suggestions?
