How to disable motion detector in mac book black!

User uploaded fileHi there I recently changed the harddisc in my mbb 2008 model to a crucial ssd! I

understand it so that motiondetctor is no longer required now?

I suspect it still interferes with my system as I notices lugging in webcams online (pict freezes then continues) This did not occur before change...

Regards from Mbb SL owner now with 256 gb SSD very smooth.

Hi

If you really must then start Applications/Utilities/Terminal..

To turn OFF the sudden motion sensor, type:

sudo pmset -a sms 0

To turn it ON then change the final zero for one

To check the state of the sudden motion sensor, type:

sudo pmset -g

Notes: Press return after each command.

The first time you use "sudo" you will be prompted for an admin name and/or password

Just to make you comfortable, Bob isn't posting some "hack" for disabling the Sudden Motion Sensor. Apple ******** this method:

However... this comment caught my attention:

I agree with shutting down the SMS if you have an SSD (there is no purpose for it). However, if you were not experiencing stuttering in your video with your hard drive and the SMS enabled, I don't see why the SMS would be responsible for stuttering with your SSD. For starters, the SMS should only be activating if you are moving your machine around. If you are not moving it around and you are still experiencing stuttering, you may have a different problem. While SSDs offer great performance when they work properly, different brands and models have had varying degrees of success in Macs (sometimes working in one model but not another... or sometimes even working in one model and not in another machine that is the same model). Random "pauses" is one of the more common problems. Let us know if disabling the SMS works for you.
