Mac takes 30 seconds to go to sleep

After a power failure, my Intel iMac now takes 30 seconds to go to sleep. I'm assuming that this is an application that is failing to close and then the OS forces the issue.

Even when there are no applications open and after a fresh shutdown-restart, the problem persists. Force Quit window is empty (no apps running). It probably is an app that runs on startup that is causing the problem.

How do I go about figuring out which one is the culprit?

If I wake the machine up and then put it to sleep immediately, the sleep is almost instantaneous, as it used to be.

my system library>startupitems is empty and I don't have a startupitems folder in my user library.

Disconnecting USB devices has no effect.

Even though this sleep issue is probably not related to them, I reset EFI and PRAM to no effect.

I'm aware of the change of hibernate mode to, but if this were the issue, I should not be able to put it to sleep in a couple of seconds immediately after wakening it. That mode should force 30 seconds 100% of the time if I'm not mistaken. The second sleep will be just a couple of seconds if I go sleep -- wake -- sleep.

Remember that this all started from a power failure.

Thanks for your help.

It took 30 seconds from 10:02:54

Thanks

It repeats in multiple sections.
