Do I have to replace my Power Mac G5 logic board if the SMC chip is bad?
I purchased a used Power Mac G5 (early 2005 model) running Leopard and I am having an issue where it will not go into sleep mode. I took it to an Apple Store genius bar and after running a diagnostic check they told me the SMC chip is bad. The Mac runs fine other than the fact it will not go into sleep mode. Do I have any options besides replacing the logic board?
If I have to replace the logic board do I have to replace it with the same part or do I have the option of upgrading to a newer G5 (late 2005) logic board?
