Question about proxy files

This may be a stupid question, I´ve searched the manual but couldn´t find the answer.

I´ve noticed that playback while editing was stuttering, so I figured I go to preferences and change playback so that it plays from proxy files. All my clips now turns red with an exclamation mark on them. I select them and transcode to proxy files. The playback is now without stuttering.

My question now is, when I export my finished movie, will FCPX use the original media or the proxy files?

Second question: What´s the difference between optimize file and create proxy files?

I believe that FCP always goes back to your original media to generate your final movie. I can verify that it does not use the Proxy files.

In my experience, you'll export your finished movie from your original media if you have render them as proxy or optimize files.

Otherwise, the differences between optimize and proxy files are 1.file and frame size 2.optimize files can let us operate better and more exact color correcting result than proxy files.

Note, these are only used during playback, and not during export. You control which to use in the playback preferences.
