How to install DVD sharing update to 10.4.11?

I have 2 macbook pros. One has a faulty optical drive, which I'd like to upgrade to snow leopard using the other mac's drive remotely.

I've found a link to the DVD sharing update that allows to use a remote this, but I am unable to download it

This is the link: http://support.apple.com/downloads/DVD_or_CD_Sharing_Setup_Update_for_Mac

If I follow the download link, it does straight to apple.com/downloads

When i try to search for the same upload on the new app store, I can't find.

Please let me know how I can go about this.

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

Apple downloads are really messed up right now, we haven't heard if it's a snafu or on purpose. 😟

But far better than DSVD Sharing, is Target Mode to turn your other Mac into a Firewire DVD Drive.

Target mode...

Put the 10.6 Install DVD in the the other MBP with the good drive, shut both down, connect with a Firewire cable, (9 pin<->9 pin), boot the other MBP holding the t key down, once the floating FW symbol shows up, boot the MBP with the bad driveholding the Option/alt key down, eventually the Install Disk in the other one will show as a Boot Option. 🙂
