I tried to change my avatar using a custom made design stored as a .gif but when I tried to upload it an error message appeared telling me the image was not recognised or something like that.
Is it okay to upload a design as an avatar?
You have to be a level 3 I think to be able to upload your own avatar. Until then you have to pick one from the options that are available.

For me, I can upload them but my avatar isn't showing when I post.
I just joined tonight so I'll give it some time. I'm really glad I checked before I spent too much time.
One thing is weird though. No matter how you size your photo the uploader makes you crop it. Why?
I've never seen that at any other forums.
I think you have to be a lvl 2 (maybe 3). but then you click your avatar then click edit avatar. And if it doesn't work, try uploading it again or refreshing the page. I hope this helped, because I'm trying to get points 🙂
