How long does it take the iPod Nano to charge the first time?

My new replacement iPod has been charging for 9 hours, but still isn't ready.

well, it is supposed to take 3hours, so it sounds like you've been charging it for too long. contact apple (or whoever you bought it from) and ask them about it - it should have a years garuntee on it, wherever you bought it from 🙂 pls mark this as correct 😉

What do you mean its not ready? Have you ejected it in itunes?

After charging the iPod for 22 hours, it still wouldn't turn on if it wasn't connected to the computer. I called Apple, and after going through "Restore" with me, the support guy determined (as I had suspected), they had sent me a dud for a replacement. I am now in the process of getting a replacement for my replacement. Thank goodness for Applecare!
