iPhone Crashed-Says Restore Needed-Can't Enter Password to Restore!

Earlier today while using my iPhone with Telenav, it suddenly just quit working! It felt hot and wouldn't come back on for a few mins. When it did come back on, it said Restore needed. However, when I connect iPhone to computer, iTunes cannot connect because of password!!! iPhone will NOT allow me to enter password! Shows iTunes or iPod Screen on phone and will only allow me to make emergency call! This phone is my life!!! My whole life is INSIDE this one! Calendar, numbers, documents etc!!!! I feel lost! How can I restore when I cannot enter password to connect?? HELP PLEASE!! It is the first of the 3GS phones and have NEVER had a minutes problem until now and it is nearl 4 years old I think! Has 32GB.
