Low Quality Images when Transferring Photos to iPhone from Aperture

The iPhone 4 photos in the camera roll are 2592x1936 px (5MP). To clear up space I moved all the photos to my computer (to Aperture) and deleted them off the iPhone. I take a lot of photos and only have a 16GB iPhone so i have to do this once a month. In Aperture I have them well organized in projects, albums and smartalbums. Browsing thousands of photos in the camera roll is also less than ideal and is another reason why I move them to Aperture.

There were still around 30 photos that I wanted to edit so I moved them into a smartalbum in Aperture and opened iTunes. After syncing the Aperture smartfolder with iTunes i edited the pics on the iPhone (with PhotoForge2, great software btw!). At some point I checked the resolution on the photos and they were only 1296x968 px (1MP)!?!

A lot of time lost editing ridiculously low quality photos and now I have to figure out a way to import them again without iTunes/Aperture altering them.

Is there a way to get the unaltered file transferred to the iPhone?

Cheers!

PS. The reason I need high quality is because I print a great deal of my photos and many of my photos consist of 8-10 photo panoramas. I usually edit my photos on the move, and my Mac is reserved for high quality RAW editing, not iPhone editing.

The iTunes sync process, in regards to photos synced to your phone, reduces the resolution, for display on your phone. There is no way to change this, using iTunes to sync photos to your phone. There are some third-party apps in the app store that will transfer full resolution photos to your phone. As I don't use any of these, I cannot recommend one. Do a search & see if you can find one that meets your needs.
