How do I cancel a print job on my iMac? The Print Queue will not open.
I have never heard of the Print Que not opening. How are you trying to access the Print Que? Also have you done any troubleshooting like restarting the computer or restarting in Safe Mode?
Roger
I go to System Preferences and then Print and Fax and click on Print Queue and nothing happens, it just won't open. I have recently updated to 10.6.8. "Options and Supplies" opens but Print Queue does not. I'll shut down and restart and see what happens but doubt this will change anything. Thank you for your reply.
Was everything OK before 10.6.8? If it was then your download may have gotten corrupted on the download. If it was OK prior to 10.6.8 post back and we can offer some suggestions.
I can't know that because prior to needing to cancel the print job today, I haven't had to cancel one in years.
I see, then what I'd recommend is first trying to install OS X over your existing system. Don't worry it wont't affect your data files however it's ALWAYS wise to be backed up, so please do that. If your system came with Snow Leopard pre -installed use the OS X Install Disc that shipped with the computer, if you upgraded from an earlier version of OS X to SL then use the SL upgrade DVD. Simply pop in the DVD and follow the install instructions and it will install files that may have become corrupted. After that has been done if it still doesn't work then I'd recommend navigating to 10.6.8 Update Combo and installing that.
I really appreciate all of your sincere attempts to help me, evidenced by your well thought out instructions and the time you invested in doing that, but I feel really stupid now. When I tried to print another document, a box came up that said my printer was "paused". Ummmm....how do I 'unpause' the printer? I'm hoping it's as simple as this!
Have you tried power cycling the printer? Every printer has a different sequence for pausing or unpausing so unless you have the same printer as me (HP Laserjet 1012 and a HP OfficeJet 7410) then you will have to look in the manual. However power cycle the printer, sometimes when mine acts a little goofy (as my 7410 did about an hour ago) I simply unplug, waited 30 seconds and plug it back in
Now this is kind of funny, because when I saw that it was paused, I knew why it didn't print, and couldn't unpause it, so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in it printed the current document but not the other one (before I unplugged it), so I assume it was on "pause" when I told it to print that first doc. I have an HP P1006. Anyhoo, it looks like my problem is solved, so thanks so much to all of you who came here to help me!
Glad you figured it out. Please mark the thread as being answered.
